Nature Based Therapy

Did you know that natural environments are more likely to promote positive emotions, lower our stress hormones, and lower our heart rate? Have you ever felt at-ease or noticed your mind begin to slow down in an outdoor setting? Nature brings us back into our bodies and fosters a greater connection with ourselves and the natural world.

At Therapy Matters, we offer nature based therapy, also referred to as eco-therapy or wilderness therapy. This unique approach is based outdoors in any natural environment, or can be practiced inside with elements from our natural world. Sessions can be for individuals, couples, families, or even kids for nature based play therapy.

Nature based therapy does not require you to meet a specific level of physical fitness, or ability. Sessions may vary depending on the therapeutic need and may include walking and talking, sitting in nature, or incorporating the environment to deepen curiosity and engage your innate connection to the earth.
